Monthly Archives: November 2008

What a hectic month so far…. I began the month reading AI problem solving.  Next I downloaded a book on Logic and Prolog, continued listening to Andrew Ng’s Machine Learning lectures, downloaded articles on KKT and SMO algorithm, read articles regarding temporal difference learning, and finally, found a book online on reinforcement learning.

During the month of October, as I pursue my AI education, I have started reading various books – first I am reading Hunt’s book Experiments in Induction.  Basically, with the collaboration with various computer scientists over a four year period, Earl Hunt et. al discussed the theory behind the work, conducted experiments, and defined applications for this work.  The idea of concept learning started in the 1950s and continued into today, but under the area of psychology and cognotive sciences instead of Artificial Intelligence.  In addition I read the first 12 pages online on Hunt’s earlier work called Concept Learning: An Information Processing Problem.  A google search lead me to read the Joshua Tenenbaum’s paper Bayesian Modeling of Human Concept Learning.  All this along with Simon’s article lead to my writing of Why Should Machines Learn?
